Under Armour TNP Training Tour: The CrossFit Games

Under Armour TNP Training Tour: The CrossFit Games

How fit are you? How do you know? Ever thought of competing in the Sport of Fitness? Earlier this month, 300 competitors did just that at the CrossFit Games in Aromas, CA. This year, the athletes completed four extremely intense workouts in two days. Every second counts, and the athlete with the lowest combined time wins the right to claim the title of World's Fittest Athlete.

What did the workouts entail? Well, they're different every year. The athletes prepare all year for anything that gets thrown at them. The first three workouts were announced three days before the event, and the final was announced at the end of the first day of competition.

The workouts were pure CrossFit in both style and intensity:
Three rounds, 21-15- and 9 reps, for time of:
95 pound Thruster (65 pound for women)
Pull-ups (chest must hit the bar to count)

5 rounds for time of:
275 pound Deadlifts, 5 reps (185 pounds for women)
10 Burpees (with clap overhead while airborne)

A 750m steep trail run

155 pound Squat Clean and Jerk, 30 reps (100 pounds for women):

The barbell goes from ground to overhead, passing through a front squat in which the crease of the hip passes below the height of the kneecap. The finish position is with the arms, hips and knees fully extended, arms overhead, with at least a portion of the ear visible in front of the arm. Dropping the barbell is acceptable.

Jason Khalipa of San Jose, CA won the overall competition with a total time of 13:17 for all four workouts (that's well under 4min on each one!). Caity Matter of Columbus, OH won the overall competition for women with a total time of 19:10.

Under Armour was a major sponsor of the CrossFit Games, providing prize packages for our winners and bringing the Under Armour TNP Performance Training Tour to the CrossFit Games, including the Under Armour Bus!

I am an avid crossfitter and I am glad to see Crossfit being recognized as a sport. Many people workout but few actually train as if their lives depended on it. I am glad to be one of the few.

We are also doing our part here in Panama City, Panama, as the first CrossFit affiliates in Central America.
We are going to keep spreading the Sport of Fitness to everyone here.
